Syllabus Comparison: JEE Mains Vs. JEE Advanced
Syllabus Comparison: JEE Mains Vs. JEE Advanced
If you are looking to pursue a career in engineering in India, then JEE Mains and Advanced are two terms you would have heard very often by now.
JEE stands for the joining entrance examination held for admission into premier engineering institutes in India. A candidate must pass the JEE Main exam to get through to the JEE Advanced exam and then finally into their dream institutions like IITs and NITs
JEE Advanced is more difficult than JEE Mains. JEE Advanced questions are more difficult and require a deeper understanding of ideas and attentiveness. Every topic you master in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will be tested in the JEE Advanced paper.

Difference Between JEE Mains And JEE Advanced Syllabus
The difference between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced syllabus is not very high. The syllabus for JEE Main and JEE Advanced is essentially the same; however, there are a few topics covered in JEE Main that are not covered in JEE Advanced, and vice versa.
JEE Advanced questions are harder than JEE Main ones. JEE Advanced assesses all critical skills, such as conceptual thinking, memory, comprehension, knowledge, and application. JEE Advanced tests not just a student’s concepts but also his or her accuracy, quickness, ability to handle pressure, and decision-making ability.
JEE Advanced preparation also includes JEE Main. JEE Main is more memory-based and assesses your comprehension, speed, and accuracy, whereas JEE Advanced requires in-depth knowledge of ideas. The best strategy to prepare for JEE Main and JEE Advanced is to just focus on mastering concepts and the art of applying them wherever they are needed.

So, as you may have noticed, in terms of the difference between JEEMains and JEE Advanced syllabus, there is not much to begin with. A lot of the topics overlap with only a few additions to the JEE advanced syllabus list. However, the JEE Advanced paper is without a doubt more difficult and challenging than the JEE Mains paper.

The Final Say
The difference between JEE Mains and Advanced syllabus is not very drastic. They are more or less very similar; however, the difficulty level of JEE Advanced is higher. Typically, there is a 40-50 day delay between JEE Main 2nd session and JEE Advanced. During this time, candidates can work on their JEE Main weak points, review all topics, and practise JEE Advanced mock exams.
It is not required to take both JEE Main and Advanced. If you are satisfied with an NIT or IIT, JEE Main is adequate. If you want to get into an IIT, you must take JEE Advanced, and in order to do so, you must have a top rank (within a certain range) in JEE Main. You can follow numerous strategies and best practices to crack engineering exams. Best of luck!
FAQs
1. What is the syllabus for the JEE Mains but not for Advanced?
Oscillations and Waves, Electromagnetic Waves, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems, and Experimental Skills are JEE Mains-only topics. Topics such as Mechanics are only found in JEE Advanced and not in JEE Mains.
2. How difficult are advanced exams in comparison to mains?
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and JEE Advanced are two national-level engineering entrance exams. Although the level of difficulty of each paper varies on the preparedness of individual students, when comparing the two, JEE Advanced is considered more challenging than JEE Main.
3. What is the difference between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced?
Examinees often have a 50-day gap between JEE Main and Advanced.
4. What is the success rate in JEE Advanced?
The success rate for passing the IIT JEE is 25-30 %, which means that out of every 100 students who take the JEE Advanced, 25-30 pass. In 2023, 43,773 students out of 1,80,372 who took JEE Advanced passed the exam.
5. Is the IIT syllabus the same as the CBSE syllabus?
JEE The main syllabus is entirely connected to CBSE. And, with a few exceptions, the 12th-grade syllabus is nearly the same across all state boards.
